氟气是迄今世界上最活泼的非金属，其氧化性最强，在常温常压下，几乎可以与所有的金属、非金属直接反应，生成各种氟化物，广泛用于电力、核工业、汽车、医药、塑料和电子等行业。
塑胶制品表面的氟化处理可以提高塑胶制品的品质和应用范围，能有效的提高塑胶制品的抗渗透性、耐磨性、抗污性和耐腐性，因而在汽车、医药、材料、家电、化妆品等行业广泛使用，由于氟化处理在经济发展中的作用越来越重要，世界各国都给予了高度重视。
